The Divergence of Sex from Space
IV Boundaries and spatial signifiers are remarkable in the defining of public and private space. Aaron Betsky’s investigation into queer space production will be established to remedy these case studies via studying methods employed in The City. This amelioration will eventually help to build a comprehensive spatial response to the present day shift in attitudes towards, and practices of, sex - bolstered by a conversation with Stephanie Alys of MysteryVibe.
In the present day the public realm continues to obscure the boundaries of private space; CCTV, mobile phones, advertising, social media and the internet have a huge influence on the way people conduct their day to day lives, however the relationship is rarely reversed.
There are many channels society could employ to free up taboos surrounding sex and sexual expression. Be it through witticism in advertising or nightlife ventures or through sex education. Whatever the direction, we can and should seek to open up these unique situations to the masses through architecture and design.  How can we start to change the way that we read space, and how might that change for this generation?
